8 a.m. to 12 noon
Our Early-Primary Program serves children from 18 months until they are ready to transition to the Primary Program (around age 3). Throughout the morning, children engage in hands-on activities developed specifically for this age group. In the Early-Primary Program, children learn about their world and themselves through self-directed exploration. An important part of a toddler’s developing independence is learning to care for him or herself by washing hands, preparing a simple snack, or cleaning up after a spill. Children delight in the joy of self-sufficiency that comes with mastering these skills. An emphasis on care and respect for self, others and the environment guides the children’s socialization. Positive modeling and redirection are ways we encourage the practice of appropriate behavior. The safe, gentle and loving atmosphere in the classroom puts children at ease.
